This month in Ms. Walker's class, we have learned about the following types of habitats: polar, temperate, subtropical, and tropical. We discussed both the physical environment and the living community of plants, animals, and other organisms in these habitats. The physical features we noted in each habitat includes soil, moisture, range of temperature, light intensity, availability of food, and presence of predators. For this year's class project, students will select one type of habitat and recreate it in a shoe box. These boxes should include each of the features we discussed from the chosen habitat. Students will be graded on accuracy and creativity for this project. Featured below is a wonderful example from last year.
